Biography
Prof. Forster holds a PhD in economics from the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland, and has published on North-South relations, international development cooperation and humanitarian issues.
Jacques Forster, professor emeritus at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, was vice-president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) from 1999 to 2007. He worked for the Swiss Government‘s development co-operation agency and as a consultant for various institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and South Asia.
Prof. Forster is presently a member of the Foundation Board of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, which he chaired from 2010 to 2014. He is the president of the newly founded Humanitarian Quality Assurance Initiative (hqai.org) and teaches at USI since 2008.
