Coming from a communications-science background this Masters to me is a deepening of already existing knowledge. But I found much more: a multi-disciplinary course, which is incredibly broadening and enriching, but is also very demanding -personally and intellectually. First of all I chose this Masters program out of personal interest. My childhood in India has opened my mind and interest for other values. I also chose this program out of professional reasons: as a journalist it is part of my job to draw a picture of people originating from other cultures. I am very often confronted with media coverage that neglects, reduces and underestimates the complexity of intercultural communication - sometimes with fatal consequences. Once you learn about the enrichment, the complexity and the challenges of intercultural communication there is no way back - it strongly changes you personally.
